Beijing Badachu Park (Buddhist Monastery) : A classmate from PKU and I took the subway Line 1 to the far west station of Beijing, more than an hour's ride from where I live. Will is a near expert on Buddhism and other aspects of Chinese culture, and it was a real treat to have him lead the way. I learned a few things about cultural sensitivities, after finding that some some places prefer no pictures taken... I must say that it was hard to find the line between a real monastery and a tourist location. This photos show but a glimpse of the Park, and we plan to return when the weather is warmer (what we thought was incense ash in the sky was actually snow.) :)
